Memorial Day

We went to the Memorial Day Parade today and I found myself crying because lots of things reminded me of the veterans in my family - my father who was a Navy vet and is online at the Navy Log as a young sailor, my Grandpa Roberts, who never talked about his service in WWI and my great-great-grandfather, George Mifflin Dallas Roberts, about whom I wrote (when I was writing)before the Civil War - he served as a private in the Indiana Volunteers, Company H 66th Regiment . My great-grandfather, Ulysses S. Grant Roberts, didn't seem to serve in the armed forces at all. Perhaps it was because he saw what his father was like as the result of those 3 years in the Civil War...
