the forces of Satan.

Interpretations of 666's meaning"
The number 7 is a perfect and holy number mentioned many
times in the Bible. The number 6 is as close as man can
get to God's perfection. The number 6*6 represents some-
one who is less perfect than God in every respect.
Robert Graves suggested in his study of pagan symbolism,
The White Goddess, that DCLXVI, 666 in Roman numerals,
is an abbreviation for the Latin sentence “Domitianus
Caesar Legatos Xti Violenter Interfecit”, or “The Emperor
Domitian violently killed the envoys of Christ”.
Irenaeus, he is recognized as a saint by both the Eastern
Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church, suggested that
the number indicates that the beast is the sum of all
apostate power, unrighteousness, wickedness, deception,
and false prophecy
