Went to see Dr. Conti today. I asked whether I can be "cured ", but he says my disorder (polycythemia vera) is like diabetes, it just is kept in check by medication. So, I'll be taking hydroxyurea the rest of my life.
I went to Whole Foods afterward, got some sushi, brownies, potato salad, a salami snack, a package of croissants, and a peppermint plant. Then I stopped at the 7Eleven and got a Big Gulp Slurpee for Steve.
I did some of the exercises that Dr. Yucht gave me. My legs hurt. I'm going to give physical therapy a few weeks and if I'm not feeling any better, I'm going to make an appointment with Dr. Rombaugh. I think I've put off the operation to fix my knees way too long.
