I forgot to post yesterday here. This is what I posted on Facebook:
Another bunch of high cost crap. Our kitchen sink developed a leak that created a veritable waterfall into the basement. Our regular plumber isn't taking jobs because of COVID, BTW. Steven called "Brother's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning LLC" to repair the leak. A guy came, patched the pipes, didn't replace anything. He looks at our bidet, which has a leaky connection and says he can't fix it, it's busted. (we had a refrigerator repairman said the same thing about our fridge- turned out it wasn't busted at all - that cost us $150 - but I can't tell you the name of that jerk). The guy was here less than a half an hour. He tells my husband he's owed $1200. My husband freaks and asks him if he wants him to call the Better Business Bureau. The guy laughs and tells him he was kidding and says the charge with tax and all is $615. Husband gives him a check. It's cashed in less time than the guy was here. Husband has filed a complaint with the BBB - the phone number on the receipt is not in service, there's no address on the bill. The drain is fixed at least, I think. It has been a horrible day.
I holed up in the bedroom while all this was going on, took a nap and then watched the last 2 episodes of Catch-22 on Hulu which I've been watching with Elysha's account. I figured that I'd get to sleep earlier, if I watched it in the afternoon. I also skimmed the original 1970 film (on Amazon Prime) and noticed that what was a few minutes in the film was an episode in the series.
Christopher Abbott was an excellent Yossarin.
The “catch” in Catch-22 involves a mysterious Army Air Forces regulation which asserts that a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions but that if he makes the necessary formal request to be relieved of such missions, the very act of making the request proves that he is sane and therefore ineligible to be relieved.
So, today, we were supposed to get a visit from PSE&G about our air-conditioner, which is not working. Steven said the guy was supposed to come early in the morning. I think maybe he did, but I was once again sleeping. Steven is napping now, so he hasn't told me what happened, but the AC is still not on... So, possible another bunch of high-cost crap. I did send Jenni $100 for her birthday - she turns 43 years old today. I will try to call her later, if I remember. It's not bad here inside, but it is hot outside. So I will see what's happened later, I hope. Fingers π€π» crossed!
The guy did come at 7 AM and took a long time, checking and investigating. Steven said he even talked to somebody else. The guy said he'd be back later today and will probably be able to fix it. π€π»
