I finally looked to see how much of my winnings would be taxed. Turned out to be 22% - almost $5,000!! So I transferred $5,000 to our joint account so that Steven can't say my winnings are why the taxes are so high. This way, if he has to take out a loan to pay the taxes, it is not my fault. It leaves me with around $8,000. Five thousand of which has to stay in my account to avoid any fees.

God, I'm upset. Jenni got over a thousand dollars this month. I just can't give her anymore. I was supposed to get some joy out of the winnings. I guess pedicures will be it. I get some joy out of the comfort. And tipping the pedicurist a lot - that makes me feel good, too.

I've been reading a book that makes me cry. It's a follow-up to another book that made me cry - Hannah's Dreams, the first, and Friday's Harbor, the current one. They are about animals that have been saved and are in a small zoo. Hannah was an elephant, who eventually gets to go to a pachyderm preserve to be with other elephants. Friday is a killer whale who's been in captivity since he as a baby. I'm not finished with it yet, but it looks like another killer whale - a baby- that is seriously injured will be taken to live with him, so he's not lonely anymore.
