Went to get my endoscopic ultrasound today. It was a nice day out. The people at St. Joseph's were friendly and nice, helped out a lot. The procedure didn't take too long, but all the rigamarole involved in getting to and from it took a while. We got there about 12:15 and got out around 4. The anesthesia didn't make me feel as hungover as usual. My hand hurts from the IV, but other than that, I feel okay.
We went to the Pilgrim for dinner. I'd watched the Halloween Baking Championship when I was waiting to be brought into the operating room. They made a 4-layer cake and had to use a specific blood pattern, like swipe patterns, back spatter, high velocity spatter to decorate it. Most of them used knives (not sure if that was a must or not) made of all sorts of things, like fondant and gum paste. It was fascinating to see what the bakers came up with. I thought it was Bobby Flay running the show, but it was John Henson. So, by the time the show was over, I was famished. In recovery, I got ginger ale and graham crackers. At Pilgrim, I had a cheeseburger and got one of their little cakes to go. The maître de, such as it is, said it would melt in my mouth.
